Doug and Judy Wise owned and operated the iconic Sykes for more than 60 years, maintaining a commitment to locally grown, quality products as well as specialty items not found elsewhere in the valley. Recent renovations have opened a new chapter in the Sykes story, when in the fall of 2010 local businessman Ray Thompson bought it from the Wises, opening a market a year later and apartments in 2012 Despite the updates, the core of the business, and the motto, remain unchanged - "Nobody goes away a stranger."
